If it needs cleaning, do so with minimal warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Do not submerge into water or have it in contact with detergents/cleaners/perfumes/make up etc.
HOW TO SPOT A FAKE: Hematite is heavy stone and cold to the touch, it warms up using heat from your body. When rubbed with sandpaper for example, it will leave a red powder. In addition, hematite is not naturally magnetic, it will not stick to metal, those that do are manmade and will not have the same healing properties.
