About: Ocean Jasper is a rare and beautiful mineral, mined from a remote cliff base, only accessible by boat, in Marovato, Northeast Madagascar. It was documented on in 1922, but was only rediscovered when Paul Obenich spent 45 days exploring the area and he exhibited his findings in 2000. Mining operations were halted in 2006 due to the mineral's depletion and the dangerous conditions. This jasper is a precious and unique find.
It is said that any Ocean Jasper on the market now is from previously mined stock or collectors hoards. It's no wonder this is an expensive Jasper.
